Johnstown Scholarships

The Gindlesperger Scholarship

This scholarship is presented in honor of Brian K. Gindlesperger who suffered from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder  (PTSD). The Gindlesperger scholarship is awarded to the newest member who has achieved the highest grade point average during their Associate Member process. The recipient of this award has their Associate Member dues paid in full by the founders of this scholarship, Mike Dishong and Doug Hersch, who are members of the Pitt-Johnstown 2013 graduating class.

Brian K. Gindlesperger

July 30, 1983 - June 4, 2012
 

Brian was a graduate of Windber Area High School, Class of 2001, and Pitt-Johnstown, Class of 2012, where he was a member of the Delta Chi fraternity. He was a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, where he earned a Purple Heart for his service. He was also a chapter president, who led our members to success in every aspect of fraternity life with emphasis on maintaining high academic standards. We honor Brian with this award in his name and also through our actions as Brian was the definition of leading by example

Academic Improvement Scholarship

This scholarship is available for each active member to obtain during their time as an undergraduate member of Delta Chi. The Academic Improvement Scholarship rewards our members for their success in the classroom. The scholarship awards our members $25.00 for each 0.250 GPA improvement from the semester before with a maximum of $100.00 that be be earned. The money received from this scholarship is taken directly off your next payment of your active member dues.
