The V Foundation

The V Foundation was formed by Jim Valvano and ESPN in 1993 and has made significant contributions to Cancer Research ever since. Jim was diagnosed with cancer at just 46 years old and dedicated his life towards finding cures for cancer. Unfortunately Jim lost his battle with cancer, however thanks to his efforts The V Foundation has donated more than $115 million to more than 120 facilities nationwide by awarding 100% of direct donations and net event proceeds to cancer research.

The Delta Chi Fraternity became official partners with The V Foundation in 2006 and has dedicated countless hours to this partnership. Since, Delta Chi now has over 70 chapters involved with fundraising for this cause and as a result has raised nearly $500,000 for The V Foundation.

Locally, the Johnstown Chapter raised nearly $1,000 for The V Foundation in 2013. If you are a Delta Chi brother or alumni and want to learn more about ways to get involved, contact Danielle Smith at dsmith@jimmyv.org or call at 919-380-9505.

The Wounded Warrior Project

The purpose of this organization is to raise awareness and enlist the public's aid for the needs of injured service members, to help injured service members aid and assist each other, and to provide unique, direct programs and services to meet the needs of injured service members.

The vision of the Wounded Warrior Project is:
to foster the most successful, well-adjusted generation of wounded service members in our nation's history.

Throughout the years our chapter has had many soldiers come through our doors, both as members and as friends. For this reason our chapter has adopted this vision as our own, assisting The Wounded Warrior Project as much as possible with donations of time and money. As a result of this relationship between our organizations, our chapter has donated $500 for the past two years at our university's Annual Veteran's Day Ceremony.
